Co-op Island Vines Cyprus White
- a nice zingy white with a good style and an easy aromatic quaffer.
Made by two Australian winemakers, Nick Butler and Matthew Jenkins.
£3.49 - In 1996 the Co-op initiated a project to update the
vines and the equipment and it shows. Very nice.
Aphrodite white from
Tescos - quite better palate and fresh- made from
Xynisteri grape in the Lemesos and Krasochoria region £3.89
Othello red - Keo
from Tescos - rather rustic and youthful. Made from Mavro and Ophthalmo
grapes in Pilsillia region and Panayla region £3.99
Thisbe -
medium white is more off dry than a sweet wine. You get
apples and
hints of peach on the palate- made from the Xynisteri grape in the
Akamos region. £3.50
Co-op Mountain Vines
Cyprus Reserve Cabernet Maratheftiko
£4.49. A nice blend of a traditional variety and of Cabernet
Sauvignon. This blend works well and gives a nice round smooth palate
with good length.
Commandaria St John made from Mavro, Xynisteri. The nose
is similar to those lovely Oz Muscats or to Marsala from Sicily. The
palate is of wonder dried figs.
